My stereo broken string help!?
Hi, I have a JVC MX-D8T and the fuse blew glass inside, so I went to my local hardware store and he told me to try a normal fuse within the stereo that they thought I was stupid, but I tried it, and blew the fuse. he gave me a 3 amp fuse when the fuse said glass 3.15 etc. that the use of testing a normal fuse 5 amp, because it is bigger and wouldnt blow. But when I tried some CompoNet blew think because I could smell the smoke. Then went to find a fuse Maplin glass, and put it on the stereo and on and seemed to be working, but often put off any audio file. Not the cable speaker or speakers as I have done several checks them with other music and work, and now I'm stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The first time the fuse blew glass was his warning that something was wrong. Put a 5 amp fuse in mortal - which sounds as if you have blown the amplifier output stage. It is possible that the headphone jack can still function, but I doubt it. For future reference, NEVER install a fuse rated higher than the original, but allowed in more current than circuits were designed. I'm not familiar with the MX-D8T, so I do not know what it will cost. However, the repair will be costly and meaningless, possibly.
